On 10 June 2026, WHO/Europe will host a high-level stakeholder meeting of the Access to Novel Medicines Platform (NMP) at UN City in Copenhagen.
Bringing together policy-makers, technical experts, industry representatives and civil society, the one-day meeting will focus on advancing practical solutions to improve equitable and sustainable access to novel medicines across the WHO European Region. This will be the NMP’s first in-person gathering since the July 2024 consensus-building event.
The meeting comes at a critical moment as several policy developments from both within and outside the Region are changing the access landscape. As innovation in medicines accelerates, ensuring timely, affordable and equitable access remains a shared challenge for countries. Through the NMP, WHO/Europe continues to provide a neutral platform to convene stakeholders, foster dialogue and co-develop actionable approaches that balance innovation with health system sustainability.
From dialogue to action
Building on momentum from the 2024 consensus-building meeting, this event will take stock of progress to date and chart the way forward. Participants will review outputs and early results from ongoing NMP projects and identify future priorities and resource needs .
A central focus of the meeting will be the European Access Dialogue Platform (EADP), one of NMP’s flagship initiatives. The EADP aims to facilitate structured, multistakeholder dialogue and collective problem-solving on complex access challenges, providing a space where different perspectives can converge to shape pragmatic and scalable solutions.
Objectives of the meeting
The meeting will:
- present an overview of NMP activities, outputs and progress across its working groups and projects;
- discuss and agree on the core principles, roles and functioning of the EADP;
- situate NMP efforts within the broader policy landscape through a keynote on regional access policies;
- share stakeholder perspectives and good practices in innovative access approaches;
- convene a multistakeholder panel to explore balanced solutions that support both innovation and financial sustainability; and
- define priorities and resource needs to support the implementation of agreed actions.
