Annual report 2024: WHO Country Office in Czechia
Overview
In 2024, the WHO Country Office in Czechia, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other partners, made significant progress in strengthening public health and addressing the needs of both the local population and Ukrainian refugees. Key initiatives included the exchange of primary health care innovations through international collaboration and continued support for Czech led health policy reforms. WHO advanced the integration of foreign health professionals, through targeted training, consultations and the launch of a multilingual resource platform. Public health education was strengthened through reform-focused discussions and collaboration with academic institutions. Vaccination campaigns reached over 400 000 individuals, and mental health and psychosocial support services were extended to 1880 refugees and more than 625 000 people through awareness campaigns. WHO also led targeted interventions in gender-based violence, improved infectious disease diagnostics and strengthened emergency preparedness by supporting hospital-level assessments and capacity development for chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear readiness.
