Trust-building self-assessment tool for digital health policies in the WHO European Region: web annex

Overview

Trust is fundamental to the success of digital health initiatives, as it is closely linked to participation in and the legitimacy of health systems. Policies play a key role in fostering trust. Actively, such policies enable policy professionals to define trust-building activities to be undertaken during the implementation phase. Passively, such policies reinforce public perceptions of a robust regulatory system that upholds the rule of law. Nevertheless, trust is often perceived as a vague and abstract concept that is challenging to operationalize. This publication addresses this challenge by presenting a self-assessment tool designed to guide policy professionals through the process of considering and integrating trust and trust-building principles into digital health policies.
