This Web Annex accompanies the report Gender pay gap in the health and care sector in the WHO European Region: evidence brief. It provides a detailed description of the methods used to estimate and decompose the gender pay gap in the health and care sector. The approach is consistent with that used in the 2022 International Labour Organization and WHO report The gender pay gap in the health and care sector: a global analysis in the time of COVID-19. Specifically, it describes the statistical methods used to estimate the gender pay gap across the wage distribution and to decompose it into explained and unexplained components. It is intended to support transparency and the reproducibility and interpretation of the findings presented in the main report.
