The Global Infection Prevention Control Network (GIPCN), as an alliance of professional infection prevention organisations, aims to enhance local, national and international level collaboration in the field of infection prevention and control (IPC) and in support of WHO’s and Member States’ efforts to strengthen IPC. This support encompasses IPC, IPC systems and programme strengthening, including surveillance and IPC in outbreak preparedness and response. The goal of GIPCN is to help accelerate the reduction of health care-associated infection (HAI), including in the context of outbreaks, and to help reduce the global burden of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in alignment with Member State and WHO priorities. The GIPCN focuses on the needs of low- and middle-income country health care settings, contributing to the formulation and dissemination of evidence-based recommendations that are adaptable to different settings and include considerations for best use of scarce resources.
