Together for health, we stand with science: Country data and SDGs on air pollution and health

30 June 2026 08:30 – 17:30 CET

Webinar series

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a common language and standardized framework for measuring progress across social, economic, and environmental goals. As custodial agency for all air pollution related SDGs, WHO engages directly with countries’ National Statistic Officers and focal points from the Ministries of Health, Energy and Environment, in a formal process, to regularly update SDG3.9.1 (mortality attributed to ambient and household air pollution), 7.1.2 (population access to clean fuels and technologies) and 11.6.2 (annual mean levels of fine particulate matter). The publicly available data supports regions and countries in monitoring progress towards achieving the WHO air quality guidelines, especially those with limited data availability.

The webinars aims to:

  • Launch and present new data for SDG3.9.1, 7.1.2 and 11.6.2.
  • Highlight countries involvement in the monitoring and reporting processes for the SDGs.
  • Spotlight long-term trends in air pollution and regional plans to tackle this significant burden.
  • Provide examples of how data can be used for policy and decision making
  • Showcase national initiatives such as improving air pollution and health monitoring and strengthening air quality standards to align with WHO air quality guidelines to protect public health.
