Digital adaptation kits: implementation facilitation guide

Overview

This implementation facilitation guide provides ministries of health, system developers, digital health implementers and technology partners with a structured framework for adapting and using Digital adaptation kits (DAKs) to strengthen service delivery and optimize the impact of digital systems. Drawing on country implementation experiences, the guide describes a consistent, adaptable and replicable process for localizing DAKs to national health system contexts and incorporating their content into new or existing digital systems. The process covers country assessment and stakeholder orientation, localization and validation of DAK content, digital system development or updating, and implementation through training, continuous monitoring and change management.

DAKs are one of the foundational layers of the SMART Guidelines approach, which translate narrative guidelines into systematic documentation for use in digital systems. DAKs are software-neutral, meaning that they can be used to inform the design of digital systems, independent of a specific software application.
