27 October 2026
| Technical document
Overview
This document aims to assist countries to assess their progress towards climate-resilient WASH systems. The target audience includes a range of actors at the national level that are responsible for climate or WASH data collection and reporting, and potentially local level actors or service providers that contribute to national data.
Although the indicators are primarily designed with a national focus, they are equally applicable to subnational jurisdictions at different levels.
The metadata aims to provide adequate detail on each indicator to enable identification of existing data sources or collection of new data for national monitoring of climate-resilient WASH. This document aims to:
i. clarify the purpose of the indicators and define key terms,
ii. detail the method of computation and data required, and
iii. suggest potential data sources or data collection methods.
Given this scope, this document does not yet include methods or responsibilities for compilation, validation, aggregation and reporting at regional and global levels.
